What's New on the PWO Site

Dear friends,

First of all, many thank to those of you who have joined recently our organization. Please see below the results of our efforts to better the results of our activity and this site.

The Philatelic Webmasters Organization counts over 350 members, who designed more than 380 philatelic sites.

Italia 2018

Several PWO members participated in the Italia 2018 competition, with good results. You can find here a complete overview of this websites competition.

2018 Interview with the New UPU Philately Program Manager

The PWO asked some questions the new Program Manager "Philately and CRI” of the International Bureau (IB) of the Universal Postal Union (UPU), who was kind enough to answer them. We publish our questions, Ms. Olfa Mokaddem's kind answer and our brief comments here.

The IPHLA 2011websites competition

The IPHLA 2011 Literature Exhibition accepted websites as competing literature exhibits. An important number of PWO members participated successfully in this major competition.

Fight against illegal stamps

- We have asked the UPU illegal stamps specialists to inform us about the legitimacy of a SS from Chad. After a wait of about a year and after repeated inquiries, finally we have rceived the answer that because the postal administration of Chad hasn't answered the UPU demand, the mentioned stamp is legit. A bizarre conclusion.

- We have analysed on this sitethe activity of UPU and WADP, as we have found that the number of illegal stamps hasn't decreased.

Inproved navigation on this site

We have added a new menu system for the English version of this page but we have kept the older, no Javascript, version.

FIP didn't answer our collaboration proposal

We have contacted so far twice Mr. Anthony Virvilis, the Chairman of the Literature Commission of the FIP, and we have renewed our earlier proposal of collaboration. We proposed to share our experience, collected during the EFIRO event and to search together for new ways of stimulating the philatelic webmastering. He answered the first e-mail and proposed a personal meeting at an exhibition where we weren't present. We answered by informing him about our impossibility to participate in this discussion and we made constructive proposals for the future, that he has never answered since then. Actually, nothing new.

Common event of the PWO and of the Association Internationale des Journalistes Philatéliques (AIJP)

We organized a common Philatelic Webmastering event at the international philatelic exhibition EFIRO 2008 in Bucharest, Romania.

PWO members awarded by prestigious philatelic organizations

Eight of our members (presenting nine sites) were awarded by the FIP, and one of members was awarded by the French Philatelic Academy. Among the awarded sites there is also the site you are just visiting, that of the Philatelic Webmasters Organization.
Please click here in order to take a look at the full listing of members and of their awarded sites.

Membership Logo

We ask all our members to display the logo (shown on the left) on their sites, in a visible place (preferable on the front page of their sites), and to link it to: http://www.pwmo.org. TIA.

Fight Against Illegal Stamps

The PWO continues its efforts in the fight against the illegal stamps. For this reason a fully subsite of the PWO main site is dedicated to this action. We published on it the UPU Circulars referring to illegal issues. For more information please visit the PWO "Illegal Stamps" subsite.

Stay tuned and visit the PWO site often!

With friendly greetings,
